Hiawatha

"The Hiawatha master plan has raised strong opinions for many years…so tonight some of us will feel excitement, others disappointment. I don’t like that and probably none of us like that because I believe that our parks, at their foundation, bring people together. I see the complexity of these issues . . . but remain inspired by the tremendous amount of time, energy and thought residents have committed to this process. People care about our city and our parks. These decisions are hard - we as commissioners in our decision-making process won’t be able to always make everyone happy – but in matters like these I always try to come back to what I believe is best for our parks in terms of quality and sustainability for the long run. "
